CH2M Hill Constructors, Inc. – Operable Unit 12 Hill Air Force Base, UT

The COASTAL Team provided expert remediation services at Hill Air Force Base in Utah. Our task involved the meticulous excavation, segregation, and stockpiling of construction debris and soils potentially impacted by contaminants within Operable Unit 12. This initiative was key to facilitating the relocation of the North Truck Gate, a move essential for the development of the base’s west side.

The project’s scope demanded the removal of buried demolition debris, concrete, and Asbestos Containing Material (ACM) mixed with soil. Our team successfully excavated up to 16,000 cubic yards of soil intertwined with 4,000 tons of concrete and assorted debris. We efficiently sorted these materials into as many as nine distinct waste streams, demonstrating our capability to manage complex environmental challenges.

A significant portion of the excavated soil was stockpiled for reuse on-site, aligning with sustainable practices. Similarly, concrete cleared of contaminated materials was crushed and repurposed for constructing haul roads within the base. This project underscores COASTAL’s commitment to environmental stewardship and our ability to deliver on large-scale remediation efforts, contributing to the strategic restoration of Hill Air Force Base.
