USEPA Region 7 – Omaha Lead Site Remedial Action (OU2), Omaha, NE

Following a successful three-year contract, COASTAL took on the challenging Omaha Lead Site Remedial Action project in Omaha, NE, for USEPA Region 7. Our task was to address lead contamination across residential and commercial properties. We managed to excavate and safely remove 133,677 tons of lead-contaminated soil, a testament to our commitment to environmental safety and community health.

A critical aspect of this project was gaining access to each property, conducting thorough inspections, and documenting pre-remediation conditions. Our dedicated Project Team ensured that, upon completion of soil remediation, every property was meticulously restored to its original or better condition. Lawns, planters, fences, sidewalks, and other landscape features were carefully reinstated according to the owners’ specifications, leaving no trace of the excavation work.

Coordinating the remediation of 25 – 30 occupied properties weekly showcased our exceptional logistical and management skills. This effort required a high level of coordination, extensive use of resources, and a commitment to safety, including maintaining safe levels of lead exposure and implementing rigorous quality control measures. Our Project Team’s ability to manage complex logistics, ensure safety, and maintain detailed records was crucial to the project’s success, demonstrating our capability to handle environmental remediation projects of such significant scale and complexity.
