USACE New York District – Caven Point Marine Terminal UST Removal, Jersey City, NJ

COASTAL successfully completed an ARRA funded project for the USACE New York District at the Caven Point Marine Terminal in New Jersey. This project involved the excavation, remediation and safe disposal of two abandoned underground tanks and their associated fueling systems.

To replace the old system, an upgraded aboveground fully functional fueling system was designed and constructed, which included the installation of two 12,000 gallon above-ground storage tanks, two new fuel pumps, fuel filters, and connected double-wall piping and fittings. The COASTAL Team also constructed a pre-engineered metal canopy, security fence, and 3-sided fueling point shelter to support the new fueling system. A new multi-tank monitoring/leak detection system was also installed. This upgrade not only revitalized and enhanced the terminal’s functionality, but also was performed in compliance with environmental safety standards.
