USACE Fort Worth District – Design-Build Construction of Rio Grande Valley Fence Segment 09 in Starr and Hidalgo County, TX
COASTAL is at the forefront of enhancing border security. Our Project Team supported the USACE Fort Worth District, for the Design-Build Construction of the Rio Grande Valley Fence Segment 09 in Starr and Hidalgo County, TX. This large scale project involved the design and construction of an approximately 11.04-mile-long, 30-foot-tall new Bollard wall. This wall features a mitered top with a diamond cover for enhanced security and aesthetics. The project included a comprehensive 150-foot enforcement zone and a 24-foot-wide all-weather road for maintenance and patrol operations, ensuring seamless security operations.
A 6-foot utility strip was developed alongside the wall to support the infrastructure, and the fabrication and installation of four Remote Video Surveillance System (RVSS) Towers. These towers are crucial for monitoring and ensuring the safety of the border. The project also included the installation of mechanical gates, border lighting, and essential utility services like power conduits and fiber optic communications cables, enhancing the operational capabilities of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
In addition, the COASTAL Project Team managed the intricate task of relocating both above and underground utilities to accommodate the construction of Segment B of the Rio Grande Valley (RGV 09). This initiative not only strengthens border security but also demonstrates our commitment to delivering complex infrastructure projects with precision and efficiency.
